Using Manipulatives When Learning to Measure Perimeter

Here are some inexpensive manipulatives that kids can use to make polygons.

Then depending on their ages and abilities, they can use nonstandard or standard measurement tools to find the perimeters of their figures.

Popsicle Sticks

Straws

Tooth Picks

Pipe Cleaners

Attribute Blocks

Construction Paper 2D Shapes

Elastics or Hair Bands on Geoboards

Glow Stick Bracelets

Now for the edibles!

Pretzels

Twizzlers (candy)

Gummi Worms

Hope the kids have fun finding the PERIMETER!
