Geometry - What are Quadrilaterals?

All closed figures with 4 sides and 4 angles are QUADRILATERALS.

There are different types of Quadrilaterals:

  • Parallelogram
  • Rectangle
  • Square
  • Rhombus
  • Trapezoid

Students might enjoy watching a musical video which explains the different types of quadrilaterals. (Click on the link below.)

~ Know Your Quadrilaterals

Another video that also explains the similarities and differences between the different types of quadrilaterals is found on the Scholastic Study Jams website.  (Click on the link below.)

~ Classify Quadrilaterals

After watching the videos, students could sketch and label pictures of the different types of quadrilaterals in their math notebooks.

Students could also check out their environment and find objects that are shaped like quadrilaterals. How many can they find? How many are squares, rectangles, trapezoids, etc.?

Thanks for visiting. Have fun with quadrilaterals.

  1. Very well discussed about quadrilateral and I want to continue it, in General, Quadrilateral means four sides but in geometry we can say any four sided shape is quadrilateral with a condition sides have to be straight and it has to be 2 dimensional. example a square, rhombus, trapezium and rectangle are also parallelograms.
