Consonant blends are two or three consonant letters that appear together in a syllable or word. Each letter in a blend retains its own sound which is blended together.
Blends can be at the beginning or ending of a syllable or word. Examples of blends are sm as in smile and spr as in spring.
This week I created a free, new, printable Blends Game for you to use with your students. This game includes the S Blends: sm, sn, sp, st, and sw.
Learning about blends will help children's ability to read words.
Some of the words included are smile, snack, spoon, stay, sweet, snow, spin, stop, smog, and swing.
The game which is often used with kindergarten and first grade students is one page and can be downloaded with your printer! It is very easy to use! Just Print and Go! You can use dice or a spinner with the game.
The children can use the game to practice and review basic reading skills.
I usually laminate my game boards or put them in a plastic sleeve for durability.
The Blends Game can be downloaded at my website anytime at your convenience.
This free printable game is posted at my website. Click below:
I hope your students enjoy the game and improve their reading skills.
