Addition Tables are an important tool to help students develop number sense, pattern recognition, accuracy, and speed in mathematics. They also help develop confidence in mathematics.
They should be introduced AFTER students have worked with concrete manipulatives and in combination with other hands-on math activities and games.
Addition tables help students develop addition fact fluency in a visual, organized, and engaging way.
The rows and columns organize the addition facts clearly which helps students make addition easier to see, understand, and remember.
Teachers can differentiate with tables so students can work at their own pace as they build confidence in their math skills.
Children can also build independence by using completed tables. They can use the rows and columns to explore sums and check their own answers.
After completing the addition table, students can color in the graphics on the worksheets with crayons, colored pencils, or markers.
