Maka a Halloween Paper Plate Clock

Here is a fun craft that can be used in math class in October and November especially if your students are learning to tell time or reviewing the skill!

Paper Plate Clock Craft

A paper plate clock is inexpensive to make and only needs a few supplies. Plus it will be a great tool when teaching or reviewing telling time at home or in the classroom.

Here are materials and directions for making a fun paper plate clock!
I usually buy my paper plates at a local dollar store or at a supermarket. (I often buy the plates after a holiday on sale and save the plates for the next year!) I also buy lots of those little dot stickers to write the numbers on the clock.

MATERIALS
  • paper plates
  • stickers (and / or a marker to write the numbers)
  • heavy paper or thin craft foam to make the clock hands
  • paper fastener (1 per plate)

Here are a few more samples!

Clocks, Clocks, and More Clocks for Kids

I love combining children's excitement about the holidays with an educational lesson. I think its a WIN, WIN for the kids and teachers.

Last week, I posted a couple of inexpensive Halloween Pumpkin Clocks for the kids to make with paper plates. You can read those posts here and here.

Here are two more! How about a Friendly Ghost Clock or a Spider Clock?

Not So Scary Spider Analog Clock

If you need directions, you can hop over to last week's directions for the pumpkin clock. You can find the directions here.

A trip to a Craft Store or even a Dollar Store can give you more choices for a Halloween Clock Theme.  I think the Turkey stickers are available also if you want to start early and tie in Thanksgiving and a Math Lesson on Time.

If you want more ideas for using the Friendly Ghosts Theme with younger kids, you can get some great Montessori Ideas in a post by Deb Chitwood from Living Montessori Now.  Just click on the link below.

If you want some more ideas for incorporating Spiders into your teaching lessons, you can read one of my posts by clicking the link below.
