Insects for Kids

With summer almost here, this would be a good time for the kids to learn about Insects! Plus it does seem to be a popular topic with kids! :)

Invertebrates - What are Insects?

Insects are animals without a backbone that belong to the arthropod family.

All insects have 3 body sections (head, thorax, abdomen), 6 legs, one pair of antennae, and usually one or two pairs of wings.





 






 Examples of Insects
  • ant
  • bee
  • beetle
  • butterfly
  • caterpillar
  • fly
  • grasshopper
  • moth
  • wasp
