Happy Pi Day Math Resources for March 14th

Happy Pi Day!

Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th each year! It's a great day to emphasize the importance of math in our lives.

With really young students, I would emphasize shapes on Pi Day especially the circle

Here are 3 math resources that can be used on Pi Day or any day of the year.

2D Shape Bingo for Grades K-3

2D and 3D Shapes Poster Set for Grades 1-5

Circles Vocabulary Posters & Activities for Grades 5-8

All 3 of these resources are presently part of a TPT Dollar Day Hashtag Sale. You can purchase any of these fun resources for $1.00 during this sale.

You can find many more $1.00 resources in this sale. Visit TPT and type in the hastag #PiDay23 to see all the sale resources by various teacher authors!

Here is a link that is available during the sale:

Making Cube Ornaments in Math Class

Here's a fun way to combine Math (Geometry) with an easy Holiday Craft Activity.

Materials Needed
  • computer paper
  • printer
  • colored pencils/crayons/paint etc. (optional)
  • scissors
  • glue or tape

Cubes are 3D shapes with 6 sides.  All the sides are squares!

                                                         2D Shape (NET) of a 3D CUBE

2D Shape (NET) of a CUBE with flaps

You can download a Cube model (NET) from the Math is Fun Website. Click on the link below.

You can use any paper that works in a printer to print the models.

Students can decorate the 2D Shape (NET), if desired. Then they will need to cutfold, and glue or tape the 2D paper shape to make a 3D Figure.
