Simple Fish Anatomy Diagram

Here's a simple diagram of a fish that the kids can label and color. It's a little follow-up to yesterday's blog post with the fish word search puzzle and fish craft activities. It's a good way to review some of the vocabulary that was on the fish word search.

gills - organs used for breathing
scales - outside covering of most fish
fins - used for swimming and balancing in water



Answers:
 Top Row: mouth, eye
Bottom Row: gills, scales, fin, tail fin

Animal Classification Video

The following is one of the FREE videos on Brain Pop Jr.

Vocabulary: classify, vertebrate, spine, invertebrate, warm-blooded, cold-blooded, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, insects, fish

  • Have students write the vocabulary words in their science notebooks.
  • Younger students can illustrate some of the vocabulary.
  • Older students can write a definition for each word.
