Animal Books with Read Along Audio CDs

It was purely by accident that I found these Books with Audio CD-ROMs. But my experiences with the Know It All Books by Learning Horizons have been great! Young children love them and look forward to listening and following along as the narrators read the stories. In my experiences with these books, the kids have been so attentive to the stories!  The narrators do an incredible job of reading and create lots of excitement about the animals as they read the stories.

I'm impressed with how much life science the children learn from these books. Although CD-ROMs have been replaced with I Pads and other more modern technology, I feel there is still a place for these books and their Audio CD-ROMs in homeschools, classrooms, camps, or wherever learning takes place.

The paperback books were inexpensive so I bought numerous titles over time:
  • Butterflies
  • Bugs
  • Dinosaurs
  • Snakes
  • Kittens
  • Sharks
  • Horses
  • Farm Animals

I usually have one child hold up the book, show the pictures, and turn the pages as the CD-ROM plays, then we all talk about the book and usually do an activity that relates to the subject of the book.

The books can also be used with one or two students sitting together and reading along with the narrators.

I found the books in discount stores and have even bought multiple copies of some titles but they also can be found at Amazon.

Create an Animal Alphabet

Have children try to think of an animal for each letter of the alphabet.
Here are a few clues to get them started!

Let them use a variety of resources to research and find more (and some unusual) animals.

For which letter of the alphabet can they find the most animals?
