Spider Book and Craft Activity

Spiders are not insects!  Spiders are arachnids!  Spiders have 8 legs! YIKES!

Spiders, Photo Fact Collection is a great oversized book filled with many large, colorful, fabulous pictures and illustrations of spiders! It is filled with lots of interesting facts. After reading the book the kids might like to make the following spider craft made with recycled egg cartons.

Egg Carton Spider Craft Activity

Materials

• egg cup from an egg carton
• paint
• paint brush
• 4 pipe cleaners
• scissors
• hole punch
• glue
• google eyes (optional) or white paper

Directions

• Punch 4 holes on each side of the egg cup.
• Paint the egg cup.
• Let dry.
• Trim 4 pipe cleaners to about 8 inches in length.
• Insert the pipe cleaners through the holes on one side and pull them through the holes on the other side.
• Shape the legs by bending the pipe cleaners.
• Glue google eyes ( or small white circles) onto the front of the egg cup.
• Enjoy your new spider and read some books about arachnids!
