St. Patrick's Day Craft Activities

One month from today it will be St. Patrick's Day!

Here are a couple of suggestions for activities to do with the kids.

First, you could make Shamrock Paper Plate Clocks with the kids to help with teaching or reviewing telling time as a math activity. Second, since rainbows have become symbols of luck and celebration on St. Patrick's Day, a fun science activity is to learn the colors of the rainbow with a great video, a wonderful children's book, and an art or craft activity.

Both of these ideas are in previous posts, so just click on the 2 links below to get directions and more information.

Heart Penguin Craft Activity

Here is a simple craft activity that's great if you are teaching a unit on penguins or if you are home with the kids on a snow day! Only a few materials are needed.

Materials
  • construction paper (black, white, and orange)
  • scissors
  • google eyes
  • paste or glue

Directions
  • Cut 5 heart shapes (1 large white, 2 medium black, 3 small orange)
  • Cut one of the black hearts in half.
  • Assemble the parts and glue or paste. See the picture above.
  • Add a set of google eyes!

Next it's time to read a good book about penguins. I'll add a few suggestions at the end of this post.

Stay warm!
It's 18 degrees here in New England and we are in the middle of a storm that is leaving us with 14 to 24 inches of snow! Yikes!
