Hershey's Milk Chocolate Fractions Lesson and Book

Kids love using MANIPULATIVES when learning math.  The Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar works great for teaching FRACTIONS.

It is already divided into 12 equal sections.  Lots of math concepts can be taught with this candy bar:

  • numerators and denominators
  • identifying and labeling fractions
  • adding and subtracting fractions
  • equivalent fractions
  • improper fractions (need 2 candy bars)
12/12 = 1 whole

5/12

6/12 = 1/2

There is also a children's book by Jerry Palotta and Rob Bolster to go along with the chocolate bar to help teach/review the concept of fractions.

Have fun with fractions!

  1. Hi Marcia:

And that's why KitKat bars are divided into fourths!
