Here are some inexpensive manipulatives that kids can use to make polygons.
Then depending on their ages and abilities, they can use nonstandard or standard measurement tools to find the perimeters of their figures.
Popsicle Sticks |
Straws |
Tooth Picks |
Pipe Cleaners |
Attribute Blocks |
Construction Paper 2D Shapes |
Elastics or Hair Bands on Geoboards |
Glow Stick Bracelets |
Now for the edibles!
Pretzels |
Twizzlers (candy) |
Gummi Worms |
Hope the kids have fun finding the PERIMETER!
What fun! Great ideas. I am sure my kiddos would love to do math this way!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phyllis, and also thanking you for reminding me about the geoboards. They are great for Area and Perimeter.
