Invertebrates - What are Coelenterates?

Coelenterates are very primitive animals that are invertebrates. They live in water and have stinging tentacles that they use to capture food and defend themselves. Examples of coelenterates are jellyfish, corals, and sea anemones.

Unlike sponges, coelenterates can move through the water to obtain food and escape danger.

If you visit an aquarium, you will probably get to see these amazing animals.
