Presidents' Day Teaching Ideas and Craft

Presidents' Day is celebrated in the United States on the 3rd Monday in February. This year we will celebrate on February 20th.  Many schools pay particular attention to George Washington's birthday which is February 22. Abraham Lincoln's birthday, which is also in mid-February, is also often celebrated this month.

I found this great video that gives the names and pictures of all the presidents from George Washington to Donald Trump. I think the kids will enjoy it.  I want to thank the creator of the video, Mr.Harms, for sharing it with all of us. Click the link below to view the video.

Of course reading with the kids about the different presidents including Washington and Lincoln is always a great idea for Presidents' Day. Here is a sampling of books you might find at your library.

If you would like to make a craft with the kids, here is a fun windsock to make to make using patriotic colors of red, white, and blue. Click the picture below for directions.

Valentine's Day Activities for Kids

Happy almost Valentine's Day! Do you need some fun, educational, inexpensive activities to do with the younger kids.
Valentine's Day Craft
My favorite has always been the Valentine's Day people made with paper heart shapes. Just click HERE to get directions from one of my previous posts. Then after Valentine's Day you can follow up with other 2D shapes. Click HERE for my post about 2D shape people.
Paper Plate Clock
Another fun and inexpensive activity is to make a Valentine Paper Plate Clock. Click HERE for directions. Then later the kids can use the clocks to practice telling time.
120 Chart
Finally here's a 120 Chart printable that the kids can complete and color to review and practice counting from 1-120. This free math printable is on my website. Click on the picture above or the link below to go to my website.
